My name is Clement NYIRENDA. I am a Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Namibia (Ongwediva Campus). Prior to coming to Namibia, I was a Keio-MEBIOS Specially Appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Information and Computer Science at Keio University (Yagami Campus) .
During my student days, my research efforts hinged on the development of Swarm Intelligence based Multi-objective Fuzzy Logic tools for communication networks and other dynamic environments. These days, I have diversified my research efforts to the following areas: Intelligent Systems based Localization, Smart Water Networks, Intelligent Algorithms for Vehicular Communication Networks, Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks, and Throughput Optimization of Free Space Optical Communication Networks. For more, please refer to the list of my publications. Should you be interested in research collaboration, please contact me!
I obtained a BSc in Electrical Engineering in 2000 and an MScEng in Computer Engineering in 2007 from the University of Malawi and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) respectively. In September 2011, I obtained a PhD in Computational Intelligence and Systems Science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where I used to study in the Hirota/Sakurai Lab.
Because of my academic interests and my background among the poor masses in the rural areas of Malawi, I am very passionate about technology and its use in the fight against poverty. As a result, I discuss these issues on this blog. I long to connect with other people with similar interests. Should you be interested in involving me in any pro-poor ICT based projects, feel free to contact me.
