The longest total solar eclipse of the 21st Century

On Wednesday, July 22, 2009 the earth will witness the longest total solar eclipse of 21st century. It will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern India, eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar, central China and the Pacific Ocean, including the Ryukyu Islands (Japan), Marshall Islands and Kiribati.

At the 2009 Fuzzy Systems Symposium in Tsukuba

Last Thursday, I went to Tsukuba University for the 2009 Fuzzy Systems Symposium. I presented a paper entitled “On the reduction of reverse traffic in a Fuzzy Logic Based Dual Explicit Congestion Notification Mechanism for TCP/IP networks”. Although I was at the Symposium for only a few hours, I managed to interact with several seasoned researchers including Professor Michio Sugeno, one of the early Japanese researchers in Fuzzy Systems.
